What is the Energy Audit according to RD 56/2016?
Royal Decree 56/2016 establishes the obligation for large companies to carry out energy audits as part of the measures to improve energy efficiency in Spain. This audit consists of a technical and economic analysis of the energy consumption of the facilities, with the aim of identifying saving opportunities and proposing viable improvements.

These companies must carry out an energy audit every four years and register the report with the corresponding body of their autonomous community. In case of non-compliance, the sanctioning regime may impose fines ranging from €10,001 to €60,000 per consumer site.
